The story of the legendary pirate Klaus Störtebeker begins around 1395, near
the town of Barth, on the farmstead of his family, the Alkuns. Our hero Klaus von
Alkun set out from there many years ago to explore the world, educate himself
and gather experiences. He returns home now with his friend Aydan, whom he
discovered on his journey. Klaus finds the family farmstead in disrepair, his moth-
er dead and his father too weak to manage the estate alone successfully. Klaus
wants to rebuild the farmstead with his childhood sweetheart Selma, his friend
Aydan, his father and Martha, the good soul of the Alkuns, and lend it a new
splendour. And ultimately he wants to marry his great love whom he has longed
for so greatly.
But the siblings Dorothea and Rüdiger von Achenbach are working against Klaus
Störtebeker’s plans in Stralsund. They grew up together as children. Dorothea
was in love with Klaus in the past but was rejected by him. Her brother Rüdiger
has always wanted to be with Selma, Klaus bride. As revenge for these indignities,
they now try to seize the Alkun farmstead with its fertile land and valuable clay
deposits and force Selma to Stralsund and into Rüdiger’s bed. They do not shy
away from using intrigue, violence and murder to achieve their aims.
Klaus von Alkun meets Goedeke Michels during a festive episcopal ordination in
Stralsund: He is a bully, womaniser and probably the most dangerous and daring
pirate captain of this time. Klaus gets into a fight with him, but this ironically
develops into an inseparable male bond. Together with the experienced warrior
Aydan they take up the fight against the von Achenbachs.
Mecklenburg is still at war with the Danish Queen Margarete. The Queen is pri-
marily concerned with Stockholm. The Queen is ready to negotiate with the Meck-
lenburg Duke Johann in Stralsund for this last Mecklenburg bastion. Meanwhile,
they become witnesses to the bloody duel between Klaus von Alkun and his ad-
versary Rüdiger von Achenbach. Johann and Queen Margarete are so impressed
by Klaus that they would like to take him into their service. Klaus heart beats for
Mecklenburg, but the Queen’s offer is also very tempting. Which will he choose?
With Goedeke at his side and a fresh new crew
he sails on to new adventures – known by all now as:
